3/1/11 - Pushing the Limits

Okay, okay...I admit it.  I almost forgot to take a picture yesterday.  As soon as I realized, I grabbed my camera that still had the 70-200mm lens from the day before on it.  I didn't even take one step away from where the camera was..  I just plopped down on the floor, pumped the ISO up to 6400, dropped the shutter speed down to 1/60 (YIKES!) and zoomed out to almost 200mm. I totally pushed the limits of my camera to get this shot.

I must say...I'm impressed that there is virtually no camera shake in this shot. I mean, hand-holding 1/60 shutter speed at 200mm is CRAZY!  The noise level is fairly impressive as well, though I can take little credit for that.  It is the 5D Mark II that gets all the credit for acceptable noise at that insane ISO.  No noiseware used on this shot.

Of course, a more...um...motivated person would have simply walked across the room and put that 50mm 1.4 on the camera, but then I wouldn't have the fun story would I?

  2. Huh? What you say?? Apparently it's not the same as taking a photo with your cell phone, but then I don't know about such stuff! Hi, Steinway!
